Favors with Flavor

Hello to all!  Gone are the days of giving your wedding guests “tchotchke/knick-knack”  type  favors such as bookmarks or matchbooks or sewing kits.  All guests like favors with flavor.  These type of  favors will not go to waste or disappoint your guests.  If you take it one step further and make the favor display or presentation have as much of the WOW factor as the rest of your decor, then you have hit a home run for the favor selection for your wedding.  Of course we have to give you some inspiration to get you started in the right direction!

Sign of the Times…..

Hello everyone…. Adding details to a wedding or event is what sets it apart and makes it special.  A really special detail is signage.  I came across a vendor who creates  cottage vintage style signs – The Family Attic Shoppe.  This family run business has been making these signs for decades.  Each sign is unique.  They can be used in your wedding to add that special touch and detailing that is an unexpected pleasure for your guests.

Detail #1:  Welcome your guests with a beautiful sign.

Detail #2: If your wedding and reception is at the same venue, provide signage to show where each part of the wedding is being held.  This style lends itself to beach weddings, Private home/tented weddings, country chic/farm/barn weddings, and weddings held at vineyards/wineries.

Detail #3:  Have the Ring Bearer carry this sign before you walk down the aisle.  How cute would it be to have him say the words “Here comes the Bride!!!”.

Detail #4:  Take a photograph with the “Thank You” sign and use it as your thank you cards after the wedding.

Detail #5:  Take a photograph with the “Just Married” sign to remember your big finale.

Bridesmaid Style…

Hello all.  I hope that everyone is enjoying their weekend! In our blog entry entitled, ”Boutonniere with a Twist”, we discussed selecting a slightly different boutonniere for each of the Groomsmen to add a bit of uniqueness to your wedding.  Now, let’s do the same for the Bridesmaids.  There are many ways to set the Bridesmaids apart.  One of my favorite options is to select the same dress for all of your Bridesmaids, but allow them to select a different accessory for their hair.  In the picture below, each Bridesmaid has used her individual style to accent her look.  Love it!!!…

For the love of Moss….

Good day to you… So what do you think of Moss?  Can it be incorporated into the design details of a wedding?  Most certainly!  Moss can be used to enhance your Shabby Chic, French Country, Vintage, Rustic, and Vineyard themed weddings.  It adds an element of roughness, texture, and elegance all at the same time.

Spotted Leopard is a vendor on Etsy who has really mastered the use of Moss in a classy and elegant way.

As wedding initials hung on the church door…

To accent escort and/or placecard holders….

As a monogram…

As table numbers…

Wish Upon a Wedding DC Launch Party…

Hello there… So the DC Chapter hosted a Launch Party for Wish Upon A Wedding this past Sunday.  So many guests, wedding professionals, and friends attended this event to celebrate and learn about this wonderful organization.

“As the World’s first nonprofit wedding wish granting organization, Wish Upon a Wedding provides weddings at destinations across the United States for individuals facing life-threatening illness.  It is a chance for couples to enjoy a very special day, without any thoughts of existing health issues, while surrounded by their closest family and friends.”  (www.wishuponawedding.org)

So many vendors donated their services and talents to make this event come to life.  Enjoy a few photos!!!

Lighting was provided by Da Vinci’s Florist located in Silver Spring, MD.

This floral arrangment was designed by Intrigue Design & Decor located in Annapolis, MD.

Stationery was provided by Carla David Designs located in Fulton, MD.

The “Sugar Rush” station was the highlight of the event.  Many planners donated colorful candy to fill the vases.  Several bakers shared their talents and showcased skills with the beautiful and tasty treats.  Bakers that donated to the Sugar Rush table are noted as follows:

Jewels for your Bouquet!

Hello to everyone!!!  Last year, the popular phrase that a lot of Brides used was “Wow Factor”.  Our clients would say, “I want to have the wow factor at my wedding with lots of  glitz and glamor.”  This translates to jewelry – crystals, pearls, diamonds.”  There are many ways to bring in the wow factor at a wedding.  Let’s not forget the Bride’s bouquet.

That is one way to add a special touch and not break the bank.   You can add crystal picks in various shapes and colors or you can have your florist add diamonds or pearls to the centers of your flowers. Just the smallest amount of jewels really add to the final look of the bouquet.

Listed below are a few websites that sell bouquet jewelry at an affordable price.
