Flair for your hair…

Hello everyone….Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the prettiest of them all?  On your wedding day, you want to be the prettiest of them all!  Adding special touches will help you to create that magical look.  If you are not a fan of birdcage veils and jewelry for the hair, how about a  head band?  Fern & Flora designs beautiful headbands.  These hair adornments can be worn during the whole wedding day or only at the reception to promote the idea of a second assemble/look for the reception.  They are romantic, flirty, and elegant all at the same time.

Sign of the Times…..

Hello everyone…. Adding details to a wedding or event is what sets it apart and makes it special.  A really special detail is signage.  I came across a vendor who creates  cottage vintage style signs – The Family Attic Shoppe.  This family run business has been making these signs for decades.  Each sign is unique.  They can be used in your wedding to add that special touch and detailing that is an unexpected pleasure for your guests.

Detail #1:  Welcome your guests with a beautiful sign.

Detail #2: If your wedding and reception is at the same venue, provide signage to show where each part of the wedding is being held.  This style lends itself to beach weddings, Private home/tented weddings, country chic/farm/barn weddings, and weddings held at vineyards/wineries.

Detail #3:  Have the Ring Bearer carry this sign before you walk down the aisle.  How cute would it be to have him say the words “Here comes the Bride!!!”.

Detail #4:  Take a photograph with the “Thank You” sign and use it as your thank you cards after the wedding.

Detail #5:  Take a photograph with the “Just Married” sign to remember your big finale.

 Until the Wedding Bells Ring….

Table Runner Frenzy…

Hello all.. The smart and economical way to dress your tables is to rent the linens.  If you want to add some pizazz to the table decor, consider buying a few table runners.  The runners can accent tables throughout the reception area and/or be used on the satellite tables (Gift, Sign-in, Cake, etc.)  You would only need to buy a few of these to add to the overall design theme.  To get good use out of money spent on these items, pull them out at Christmas or Thanksgiving and use them to decorate the tables for your family and friends.

Floratouch is a vendor on Etsy that makes beautiful table runners at an affordable price.

Below are some of our favorites from Floratouch

Lighting – To Be or Not to Be?

Good day to you… In response to the title, my vote is “To Be”!  Lighting is a part of the design scheme that can be overlooked oftentimes due to budget.  One would be surprised to know that basic up-lighting is quite affordable.  Shown below are two ways to use lighting to personalize the design and to add drama to the room.

Personalization:  Gobo lighting can be added to the reception to project an image onto the floor, ceiling, or wall.  Shown here are monograms and names that have been projected onto the dance floor and the wall.  This adds such an elegant feeling to the reception.

Drama: Up-Lighting can accent the wall of the room by adding splashes of color.  These walls were bare white before and look at how a few lights adds a beautiful visual effect.

Fun Table Cards

Hell everyone…. So we all know the purpose of a Table Card – it identifies your table.  Your guests will have the table name or number on their escort card and be able to locate their designated table by way of the Table Card.  In the past, using a number to identify the table was popular.  Now you can use many themes and/or names to identify your guests’ tables:

  • Names of a city where something special occurred in your relationship, i.e. engagement…
  • Wine theme…
  • Names of cities you will visit on your Honeymoon…
  • Name of movies…

A really fun idea is to use a number but add pictures of the you and/or your fiance at that age (Table 1 for Age 1, Table 2 for Age 2, etc.)

Aisle Style….

Hello everyone… Oftentimes wedding design concepts are centered around the reception.  Understandably so, as your guests spend most of their time at the reception.  This blog entry, however, is dedicated to the ceremony decor.  The ceremony is the most important part of your wedding.  This is the part of your day when you seal your sacred vow with your loved one and unite in holy matrimony.  If your ceremony is held in a church, there may not be much need for elaborate decor as many churches are beautifully adorned already.  If you do need to spruce up your ceremony, a key element to dress up is your aisle!  The aisle leads you and the guests to the alter and is the main pathway at the ceremony.  Here are a  few ideas to dress it up:

Accent the aisle with an unique lighting design.

Hang miniature lanterns on the center aisle chairs.

Place simple flower arrangements down the aisle.

Have your florist or designer create a neat pattern of roses down the center aisle.

Hello, hello, hello… The topic of the day is ” THE CUPCAKE”.  Cupcakes can have many uses at a wedding reception or party:

  1. Instead of a wedding cake, show a beautiful display of cupcakes to be served as your dessert
  2. Use cupcakes as your wedding favor which can be placed at each place setting
  3. Place cupcakes on the candy buffet as an accent to the candy
  4. OR have a cupcake buffet!

Below are a few beautifully detailed cupcake wrappers sold by Gracious Bridal that can be used to accent the cupcakes any way you choose to display them. :o
